Core Values

At Good Shepherd, our shared life is shaped by five core values that reflect who we are and how we live our faith:

Radical Hospitality

We welcome all as Christ would—with warmth, openness, and compassion. Rooted in Jesus’ story of the Good Samaritan, we believe everyone is our neighbor, especially those in need. Whether someone is visiting for the first time or has been here for years, we strive to create a space of true belonging.

Passionate Worship

Worship is central to our life together. Through word, prayer, music, silence, and the sacraments, we experience God’s presence and are renewed for the week ahead. Worship is not a performance—it’s the “work of the people,” where all are invited to participate fully and joyfully.

Intentional Faith Formation

We believe that faith is a lifelong journey. Through study, conversation, service, and community, we grow in our relationship with God and each other. We don’t seek perfect answers, but open hearts, honest questions, and a willingness to learn.

Risk-Taking Mission and Service

Following Jesus, who came “not to be served, but to serve,” we seek to make a real impact in our community and world. We don’t serve out of obligation but out of love—sometimes stepping into uncomfortable places to bring healing, hope, and justice.

Extravagant Generosity

We give because God first gave to us. Our time, talents, and resources are shared joyfully to support the work of the church and care for the world. Generosity isn’t just something we do—it’s who we are, as people blessed to be a blessing.
